Our Mission

“As a mission agency of Virginia Mennonite Conference, Virginia Mennonite Missions invites people to faithful living in Jesus Christ by forming and enabling congregations and individuals to continue God’s reconciling work in the world.”

Our Vision

“[We] seek God’s direction in calling out and sending forth a growing, diverse community of believers, empowered by the Holy Spirit to transform the world and to be transformed through the reconciling work of Jesus Christ.”

Our History

Founded in 1919, Virginia Mennonite Missions remains one of the few mission agencies in the Mennonite Church still closely connected to its parent conference. While the Virginia Conference of the Mennonite Church (USA) has been a significant locus of VMM’s missional activity over the years, we also have historically been in partnership with Mennonite churches in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Expanding on this role, in recent years VMM has developed a supportive presence within growing churches in Asia and as well as in being a connector for anyone serving from Virginia Conference Mennonite churches.

Currently, Virginia Mennonite Missions sends and supports workers, partnering with the church through short-term and long-term service in 20 countries to participate in God’s reconciling work in the world.
