Step out.
(http://www NULL.vmmissions NULL.org/tranSend/index NULL.htm)
tranSend provides the opportunity of one year of service for young adult individuals and couples who are exploring a future long-term ministry. Through this valuable experience, you will learn the principles of international ministry which can build a foundation for future long-term service.
Go beyond.
A cross-cultural ministry setting is a place for learning and practicing holistic ministry along with the guidance of an experienced field worker.
Core areas of work and study include:
• Team building
• Language and culture
• Major world religions
• Church planting
• Teaching English
• Online academic training with Eastern Mennonite Seminary
• Other areas adjusted to individual’s interest and call
An experienced field worker will walk alongside you providing encouragement, accountability and insight. Relating to the local community and other mission workers allows for discernment as God’s call becomes clear.
Learn like a disciple.
Jesus’ disciples learned while following Jesus’ call to witness and serve in the world.
You can also learn this way. Through a special arrangement with the Biblical Lands Educational Seminars and Service (BLESS) of Eastern Mennonite Seminary, you can participate with other volunteers around the world in the course “Cross-Cultural Discipleship” and other seminary courses offered on-line as part of your tranSend assignment.
tranSend workers are eligible to receive a full tuition scholarship for one or more BLESS courses during their term of service.
Find your foothold.
Your interests and gifts can fit many service locations around the world, and tranSend can open the door for you to:
• Shadow a long-term mission worker
• Witness among the unreached
• Teach English
• Teach the children of mission workers
• Teach music for worship
• Organize youth clubs
• Participate in community development
• Receive training for long-term cross-cultural ministry
• Explore other talents and ways to use them
The next step.
If you are called to work in areas of human need, tranSend is for you.
• Make a difference in the lives of those suffering from all manner of societal problems, including poverty, health needs, and social deterioration
• Connect your ministry with a local Mennonite congregation or agency
• Integrate your service with intentional spiritual or evangelistic participation in your placement community

tranSenders say…
“Participating in VMM’s tranSend program gave me the opportunity to see the Church in a global context. There were cultural differences but the core was the same — all of us were worshipping the same God. The highlight of my year in Paraguay was the relationships formed there—with my host family, the youth group, the neighborhood, and the church people—all very enriching! Learning to converse in Spanish was both humbling and rewarding. I’m so grateful for the privilege of living in South America for a year.
—Rose Jantzi served in Asunción, Paraguay
“ . . . radical obedience calls us to interesting places . . .I am on a journey with the Lord, I am in a relationship with a living God that has no end. It will only continue to deepen. . .I know in my own experience overseas I have learned much more about what I believe from interactions during my assignment rather than reading textbooks at home. Experience trumps the seminary classroom nine times out of ten.”
—Connor Guptil, Asbury seminary student, served in Nazareth Village, Israel
